Firstly I would like to welcome you to Watch Junky Reviews. I’ve been a little nervous preparing this review as it’s the first review on the website and sets the tone for rest. However, when we’re passionate about a subject it comes through. So, without further to do I’d like to thank you all for your passion in horology that has led you here, enjoy the review.
Inspiration Behind The Fluess Chronograph
The Spinnaker Fluess chronograph reference SP-5085-01 is a stunning timepiece for the money. My first impressions were that it’s a well built sturdy timepiece based upon the design cues laid by the Blancpain Fifty Fathoms a watch that most collectors only dream about. A watch that would certainly be on the grail list of many collectors. Spinnaker has done a really good job here by not doing a full-on clone that would have almost certainly put enthusiasts off. Instead Spinnaker have used some of the design features that have made its original Fluess variations so popular. One thing I really like about Spinnaker watches is the textured dials they produce. These dials catch the light and change look of the watch and for horology enthusiasts who love to take a picture to post and share with their friend this is a great feature in the design.
Available Options
Spinnaker’s Fluess Chronograph SP-5085 range comes in four colour variations, two with bracelet and two on a hybrid leather silicone strap. The strap is extremely comfortable and very flexible leaving the watch to sit very nicely on my seven and a quarter inch wrist. Like all Spinnaker watches the Fluess chronograph comes with a signed buckle and crown.
Movement
Underneath the Spinnaker Fluess Chronograph dial lies the hybrid, high beat Meca-Quartz Chronograph movement which is very satisfying to watch once you’ve unscrewed the chronograph pushers, which are fiddly. Some may ask what a Meca-Quartz movement is, well in simple terms its a marriage between Quartz and an automatic movement. The Quartz part manages the watch like and other Quartz controlled movement and the chronograph in managed a mechanical module with both powered by the same battery.
Case
Another very nice touch is also on the case of the Spinnaker Fluess Chronograph. The case and buckle have been brushed apart from the edge of the outer lugs which is polished. This at times catches the light and frames the 120 click unidirectional bezel. The acrylic bezel frames the dial beautifully and ties all the colours together. The dial and the bezel glow brightly with the Swiss super luminova in the twilight hours as you can see in the above slider.

Final Thoughts
Would I buy the Spinnaker Fluess Chronograph? Well, the answer is simple. Yes, I would. Apart from the few minor issues I have with the timepiece as mentioned in the dislike section, it’s a beautiful watch. The watch sits nicely on the wrist and feels very comfortable with an RRP from £210 – £250 ($260 – $315) which I think is a bargain! For further saving add my code below to save 20%.
