NTH Näcken v2 Modern Black
Insparation
NTH Näcken v2 Modern Black. This sub-styled design is typical of a watch designed and made by NTH. I previously reviewed this watch’s big brother the NTH Swiftsure and I was so impressed that I bought it. NTH has taken inspiration from past classics and modern-day timepieces and this certainly pays homage to the Tudor Pelagos watches of today while having that little twist of NTH and sub-styled watches to boot. It’s not a surprise that the Näcken v2 looks as good as it does with this combination of the classic and modern mixture of designs. NTH the brand has grown a passionate bunch of enthusiastic fans given the sheer quality of the products delivered.
Case
The case on NTH Näcken v2, Modern Black a smidge above 40mn and is very refined. This case is a reduced Swiftsure down from 43mm. More impressive it has not affected the proportional drop or had an on impacted its stunning case design, and its overall look and balance. I’ve seen this happen with other brands which leave the watch feeling unbalanced. Chris and his team have done well to keep them nice sweeping lines and refinements I fell for the first time and the dial hasn’t been affected either. The slender case at 10.9mm thick is another achievement given the depth rating of 300 meters.
My 7″ wrist loved this watch and I wore it as my daily wear until I needed to send it on. That is a testament itself given that I’ve got 300 watches and often change more than twice a day.
The case back is very plain like Rolex with a few identifying marks. And sitting on top of the case is a 120 click unidirectional bezel that has a PVD/DLC insert the has a satisfying movement and snap. The case is finished off with a double domed sapphire crystal with an anti-reflective coating which gives a clear view of the dial, in all lighting conditions.
Dial
Sometimes you see a watch and think everything is where it should be, the dial has the date at 6 o’clock on this version. Snowflake hands look very nice, however, lots of people find these a marmite feature or worse plain copying. These responses came from the pictures I shared amongst the watch community on Facebook. Personally, I find the tie this modern black dial together. They are even more impressive in darkness as these hands look stunning and the watch becomes a torch because of the generous lashings of BGW9 on the indexes, hands, and bezel. The indexes are distinctive in their look and pay homage to the Tudors of today, particularly the Pelagos as earlier mentioned.
Movement
NTH made the Näcken v2 in two versions like its predecessor the Swiftsure with and without date function. The movements used for this are a regulated 9015 with the date and 90S5 with no date. These two movements are an excellent choice and offer great reliable service and time keeping. Additionally, these workhorse movements can be serviced by any good watchmakers.
Bracelet / Straps
The NTH Näcken v2 has one of the best bracelets out their in the price range and above. I compared it with my Christopher Wards and Tissot and the NTH is as good as the CW and better that the Tissot. The sold end-links fits the case perfectly and tapered down to one of the best milled clasps on the market that offers six micro adjustments for a perfect fit.

Packaging
The packaging for the NTH Näcken v2b is a leather cigar-styled case with the watch secured inside and an outer box with a picture of the watch. It offers great protection in transport and is easy to just throw in a bag when going away. The image below is of the Swiftsure to show the similarities. Note that the packaging will show the watch you purchase. The packaging can be seen in our video above.
